Taboo is a landmark adult film. Originally filmed in 1979, this 1980 release broke through many barriers and has not only been a perennial best-seller in the adult video world...but made history on several fronts.

Taboo is the first adult film to have seriously focused on the subject of inbreeding and presents it with "serious passion and excitement" according to Adam Film World...

In 1983 Taboo also scored another first when it received an unprecedented nod from the prestigious Video Software Dealers Association (VSDA) special inaugural award for X-rated films. This recognition was considered by many as a turning point in the acceptance of adult entertainment by the mainstream video industry.

Finally. Due to its overwhelming popularity, it was the first adult motion picture with numerous sequels in release.

Kay Parker portrays a woman whose husband has left her for his younger secretary, her and her son to fend for themselves. In order to put her life back together, she takes a secretarial job.

After her boss makes an uncomfortable pass at her and she falls into the divorcee's role of meaningless parties and blind dates, she becomes caught in a vortex of lust and passion for her young son Paul.

Taboo finally gets a quality DVD update!

Taboo is one of the most successful adult movies of all time, and after the horrible transfer it got from a lesser DVD company a few years back, Standard Digital gives us a new, impressive transfer that makes this special edition of Taboo a must-have DVD.

Granted, the picture does contain some flaws, but they are flaws that obviously exist on the print and ones in which not much could be done about. I'm willing to bet, however, that this is the best that the film has looked since it was originally released, and I doubt it even looked this good on movie screens back in 1980.

The story, of course, most adult historians know by heart, but here's a quick re-cap. Kay Parker plays a housewife whose husband is upset with how prudish she is in the bedroom and decides to leave her for his secretary. So Kay must now look for a new job, in addition to dealing with the mounting sexual tension that seems to be building between her and her teenage son (played by Mike Ranger, who looks to be in his late 30's, and possibly even older than Kay!).

Mike's character has a cute enough girlfriend (Dorothy LeMay), whom he screws several times during the picture, but can't seem to keep his eyes off his mother - especially her well-formed chest!

Meanwhile, Kay has found a new job and an attraction to her new boss (Milton Ingley, who's billed here as Michael Morrison), but still winds up caving-in to the passion that she feels for the fruit of her womb.

Taboo never really takes itself or its subject matter too seriously, so that's probably why the movie has become highly popular and really doesn't come off as too controversial today, although it certainly was back when it was released. That, in addition to the fact that Mike Ranger and Kay Parker are close in age, takes away the "forbidden" aspect of the film and just lets the viewer sit back and enjoy what is a pretty well-filmed porn classic.

In addition to the new transfer, this special edition offers two full-length commentaries, one with writer Helene Terrie and director Kirdy Stevens and another with star Kay Parker. Of these two commentaries, Stevens and Terrie's is the best, being scene-specific and providing a wealth of information about the shoot. Kay's commentary appears to have been done independently of the film, and she seems to be answering questions from an interviewer, who doesn't seem to have been miked, so you can only hear mumbling in the background between Kay's comments!

Other bonuses include a slide show and an additional video interview with Kay, in which she chalks up the success of the movie to the spiritual (go figure!). Buyers of this DVD will also find the original trailer for the film on the DVD.

This is one of the better classic releases I have seen of an adult movie, and it rivals VCA's classic releases in terms of quality and content. If you're an adult film collector, this special edition of Taboo is a must-have for your DVD shelf!

The Start of a New Porn Genre

It singlehandedly started the "Family"; genre that is so popular in studios like Vivid, Wicked, Forbidden Fruits, Newsensations and Digital Sin. The sex is great and Kay Parker is stunning. There's a lot left to be desired in this film, and more is one of them. The editing is bad, the sex scenes seem abreviated; but the outstanding, excellent, top of the line attribute is the fact that the actors are Natural. Real tits and real HAIR. Not hair for hair sake, not a focus on hair , just a natural state of hair. If you love natural and you love hair, you will love Taboo.

Kay Parker is stunning. Her scenes are excellent.

This is a classic and seeing it shows why. The story and characters are developed. The sex scenes - even by today's standards - are hot. Kay Parker shows how good of an actress and performer she was. Kirdy Stevens was the best. My advice is to own this before it is gone!

While this classic does deal with some very "taboo" issues, it is a must-see for all lovers of adult film. This is the root of every porno ever made. The sex scenes are as hot and sexy as they are disturbing. It is beautifully shot in the classic style that has seem to have gone by the wayside and takes chances with the plot and character development like no other adult film. In fact, it is almost as good as some mainstream films that have won our awards and respect. Kay is also the "original" Tera Patrick - soft, curvy and stunning! If you love Tera like I do, then you'll love Kay!
